Watch a Drag Race Between Every Tesla Model on Sale

This is what happens when you take the fastest version of the Model S, 3, and X to an airstrip.

Tesla makes some of the quickest vehicles on sale. The Model S has shattered records, the Model X can outdrag any other SUV, and the Model 3 annihilates its entire class. But between the quickest variants of each Tesla, things get a lot tighter.

A new video from Carwow shows as much. They line up the Model S Performance, Model 3 Performance, and the Model X P100D on a drizzly airstrip in England. They hold a standing start drag race, a rolling 50-mph drag race, and a brake test.

Unsurprisingly, the Model S Performance wins the standing drag race. The flagship Tesla sedan makes the most power, has enough traction to put it down, and benefits from better aerodynamics than the chunkier Model X. And while the drag and weight of the X slows down the SUV, the Model 3's power deficit is significant enough that the entry-level Tesla ends up in third place.

Because there are no tricky gasoline powerbands to deal with or multi-speed transmissions, the rolling drag race leads to the same results. It's only in the braking test that the results get flipped, with the lighter Model 3 out-braking the X in the wet.

Surprisingly, the Model S takes longer to stop than the beefier X, but this video mostly confirms what we already knew: if you want the quickest thing Tesla makes, the Model S is your best bet. Even if we think the Model 3 is more fun.
